Left Seat Culture started as a set of tools: working out weight and balance without a spreadsheet, checking currency before a flight, finding fuel on a diversion, planning a fly-in. Useful things, but narrow ones. This blog is the other half of that, somewhere to write down what doesn’t fit neatly into a tool or a checklist.

Real flights, real routes, what went well and what I’d plan differently next time. The kind of write-up that’s more useful than a polished highlight reel.
Lessons learned
The small mistakes and near-misses that are worth putting into words, so they’re useful to someone else too, not just filed away as a private lesson.
Tool updates
When something changes in the fuel finder, the flight computer trainer, or any of the other tools on this site, you’ll hear about it here first, along with why the change was made.
Aviation news
UK-specific developments worth flagging: airspace changes, regulatory updates, anything that actually affects how and where you fly, written up in plain language rather than copied straight from a consultation document.
What I want this to be
Useful, first. There’s no shortage of aviation content online, and most of it isn’t written with UK GA flying specifically in mind. If there’s something you’d like to see covered, a tool that’s missing a feature, a route worth writing up, or a question you keep searching for without finding a good answer, let me know.
